Kathleen M. Ryan

Director

Kathleen is an award-winning director and producer with 20+ years experience in television news and documentary film.  Her first television job was in Great Falls, Montana where she covered the race for governor and the forest fires during the summer of 1988 in Yellowstone National Park.  Since then she has worked as a show and segment producer for ABC, NBC, A&E, Lifetime and many others.  She has developed and produced a wide variety of shows over the years including the first weekend half-hour newscast for the Fox NewsChannel, an award-winning 30-part series for Disney Educational Productions called ABC News Classroom Edition and the documentary Saving Faces for the Discovery Health Channel.  Her documentary Backstretch premiered in 2007 and the interactive documentary Homefront Heroines: The WAVES of World War II premiered in 2013 with a major revision to its online platform in 2020. Pin Up! The Movie debuted in 2015 with an i-doc launch in 2020. Right now she’s working on an immersive oral history about women landscape photographers. Learn more about Kathleen here.

I have some simple rules. Be prepared. Keep things simple. And listen to the person telling the story. The best things are unexpected.

STATON (7)

David Staton

Producer

David is a recovering journalist (and one of our co-founders!) who is drawn to new and emerging storytelling platforms – specifically non-fiction stories.  As a journalist, he shared stories in a variety of formats to audiences specific and general. But, from web “mini documentaries” to full-length projects, “puff” pieces to breaking news, the narrative of the story has always been central to his work. He has acted as producer and writer on the documentary Backstretch, which followed a season in the life of the smallest horse racetrack recognized by the Daily Racing Forum. And, he’s produced a series of video biographies on emerging fine arts photographers for his gallery Staton•Greenberg Gallery. David also brought a reportage mindset to his pursuits in the fine arts arena as a curator and gallery director, in these instances, letting the pictures tell the story.  David began his career as a print journalist, working for the Albuquerque Journal as a staff arts and feature writer.  He is currently the producer on Homefront Heroines and Pin Up! The Movie and just directed his first experimental short, Ghost Resort. Learn more about David here.

For me, the relationship between the pictures makes the sentences that form the paragraphs that tell the story.
